He is often called the King of Ghazals, and when the legendary Mehdi Hassan's disciples, who are veterans in their own right, take stage, the evening is sure to be mesmerising for music aficionados. Singers Talat Aziz and Ustad Rajkumar Rizvi will perform together for the first time at a ghazal concert tomorrow. Titled Ghazal Ke Rang, the event will feature ghazals in a range of ragas pitched from different eras.

"Rajkumar bhai and I are shagirds [pupils] of Mehdi Hassan saab and I am honoured to be part of the event. The idea behind the concert is to present the ghazal in its pure form, without any adulteration. I will have solo renditions and decide the flow of the songs will be decided as per the audience's farmaish [request]," says Aziz.

Rizvi is looking forward to performing classics like Phir Satao Ke Satane Mein Maza Aata Hai, Yeh Berukhi Na Dikhao Ke Raat Jaati Hai, Zindagi Mein To Sabhi Pyar Kiya Karte Hain and Main Unhein Chedoon Aur Woh Kuch Na Kahein. "Through this concert, we are supporting Alankaar Creations, an NGO that works towards women's empowerment and the education of underprivileged children. I am thankful to Talat bhai for coming on board. This is the first time I'll perform with him. We share the same style of gaayaki and have known each other for many years," says Ustad Rizvi.
