If you are looking for an adventure of a lifetime, sign up for an excursion to Mount Kilimanjaro. Life Away From Life is inviting applications for an expedition to the tallest freestanding mountain in the world in the month of August.
Mount Kilimanjaro (in the background) was formed from catastrophic movements in the earth's crust that created the Great Rift Valley
The nine-day-long expedition will take participants through the longest route, known as Marangu route (Coca-Cola route) to reach the summit point, Uhuru Point, on August 15. The return journey would take another three days. The mountain is 5,885 meters tall, and the climb is rated moderately difficult.
Mount Kilimanjaro was born from catastrophic movements in the earth's crust that created the Great Rift Valley, and the climb takes one through a lush Montane forest inhabited by elusive elephants, leopards, buffaloes, the endangered Abbot's duiker and other small animals and primates.
Higher up there is a surreal alpine forest and finally a winter wonderland of ice and snow. Part of a special project, Youth In You, the expedition aims to promote mountaineering among youth with members as young as 19 year olds. So, pack your bags and get set for a memorable adventure to scale the heights of this gorgeous mountain, and hoist the national flag.
