It's proven that tipping gets you prompt service. Here are tips that willl get you great service,u00a0no matter which corner of the country you are in.
Carry along enough Rs 10 and Rs 50 notes that can be handed out instead of having to pop open your wallet in front of the person you are tipping. If the porter /driver /waiter sees larger denomination notes, s/he might expect a bigger tip.
Tipping at the hotel where you are staying is an expense you should factor into your travel budget. From the bellman, doorman, parking attendant to the hotel maid, it helps to tip separately. Based on the place you are staying and the number of days, tip the staff between Rs 50 to Rs 100.
In most high-end restaurants, tipping the waiter 10 per cent of your total bill is accepted etiquette. But if you are dining at a fast food joint or a dhaba, anything from Rs 5 to Rs 20 is good. Remember to tip well if you plan to revisit. The waiter will remember and serve you better.
While staying withu00a0friends or family, check with them before you pay the housemaid. Also tip the watchman. He'll ensure you get parking space and watch over your vehicle too.
