The survey of more than 5,000 Australians has revealed some of the unusual places people have had sexual encounters at hotels.
Guests also admitted to doing the deed in hallways and in lifts during hotel stays.
The Hotel Secrets Survey by a travel and lifestyle website found 38 percent of Australians were more adventurous between the sheets - and just about everywhere else - when they were on vacation, News.com.au reported.
It also found 36 per cent of people would consider hiring a room by the hour, while 11 per cent had chosen a hotel to hook up with an ex.
Five per cent admitted to cheating on their current partner in a hotel.
The website's general manager said holidays were all about new experiences and escaping routine so it wasn't surprising to hear Aussies were taking the opportunity to be a little more daring and adventurous when travelling.
The company conducted the survey in conjunction with the sixth birthday of an online service, in which travellers can book five-star hotels without knowing the name at reduced rates.
