However, study researcher Dr Michael Lynn, of America's Cornell University, found that men gave women in their 30s the best tips, possibly "because they thought they had a better chance of picking up the older waitresses."

To reach the conclusion, Lynn asked 374 waitresses about their breast size, age and hair colour to find out if appearances affected their earnings, reports The Daily Express.

Lynn, a professor of consumer behaviour and marketing, said: "Tips increased with breast size (and) when waitresses had blonde hair."u00a0
