Siddharth Rajsekar, one of India's leading digital coaches has just launched his book, You Can Coach that aims to redefine the education system by inspiring a new breed of teachers, coaches and mentors. He wants to help experts find their niche and become successful digital coaches.
Siddharth, tell us what a digital coach is?
My idea of a digital coach is a mentor who is an implementer. Someone who can provide real world solutions to students, regardless of age, time and circumstance.
A digital coach is an expert in his or her field and is able to share his knowledge with people who are truly interested in learning about it through the wonderful platform of technology - the internet.
When did you embark on this journey of becoming a digital coach?
The idea of changing the education system has been with me since I was a student in school. I have always been a passionate person, eager to learn but the education system just turned me off.
After I flunked my 12th grade and pursued music, I realized that learning can be and should be fun. I did so well when I learnt something I was passionate about and from teachers who were close to me in age and were passionate about what they were teaching.
My journey as a digital coach officially began in 2018 after spending 7 years running a digital agency and working with some of the most inspiring people in the world like Robert Kiyosaki, Brian Tracy, Harv Eker and Tony Robbins.
After grinding it in an agency for 7 years, I decided to get into information marketing - selling other people's products as well as my own digital courses. From there, there has been no looking back. I founded the Internet Lifestyle Hub from scratch and today we have 11,000+ experts training to be coaches.
How will digital coaching redefine the education system in your opinion?
Digital coaching can help build a new breed of teachers, coaches and mentors who are actually implementers. My vision is to make digital coaching a win-win for everyone involved - the coach who gets a chance to share his knowledge and earn six figures a month from the comfort of his or her home, the students who can choose what and whom they want to learn from and the overall education system that will create more dynamic and empowered leaders.
Where do you recommend one begins?
I would recommend beginning by picking your niche. Look at it as your area of contribution to the world. What is that big problem in the world you want to solve? From there, you need to identify your micro niche and validate it. The book offers a step by step process to go about launching, planning and growing your digital coaching business.
You'll find details on everything including designing your curriculum, generating leads, marketing, building communities and more.
Lastly, what are your tips for aspiring coaches?
I would highly recommend focusing on finding the right niche and you can do this by scratching your own itch. Your niche is the problem you want to solve in the world so build on what drives you and be open to adapting it.
My second tip would be to narrow down your target market instead of trying to market to everyone. Your target market should be a reflection of yourself so you can relate to them.
Lastly, be fixed on your goal, but flexible on how you get there. Successful coaches are not those who are simply good at delivering information. The best ones understand human behaviour. They are quick to adapt and ride trends using the latest tools to provide the most efficient solution and results to their students without getting fixated on their past successes.
