Warana Dairy was established on 20th July, 1968. It was founded by Late Tatyasaheb Kore a great follower of co-operative movement, Gandhian thoughts & devoted to total socio-economic change. Warana Dairy is pioneered in launching several new ideas in the area of dairy business. The ownership of the dairy does not lie only with primary co-operative societies but also with 16,000 individual milk producing farmer members, whose limited representation is in the Board of Directors. Warana dairy is the only dairy in the country who started giving rate to the milk not only at the time of supply, but also ex-gracia at the end of the year at pro-rata basis on the milk supplied by individual farmers after the performance of net profitability of the dairy. It is the only co-operative in the state which started selling milk in polypack in Mumbai in the year 1980-81. The dairy is one of its kinds to have their own managed selling booths of Milk & Milk Products in Navi Mumbai. It Inspired others by setting up own residential colony for over 100 worker families in suburbs of Nerul-Navi Mumbai.
Our Milk Distribution, Network & Reach: Our coverage has extended from Western Maharashtra, Marathawada, Vidharbha adjoining Karnataka and in the State of Goa, Gujarat & Andhra where the procurement of milk is around 7 Lakh liters per day which includes buffalo and cow milk. The dairy pioneer in setting up a cattle feed factory in Kolhapur district. Our manufacturing is not only limited to milk but also to milk products such as Shrikhand, Ghee, Paneer, Sweet Lassi, Buttermilk and Curd. Warana Dairy is first in the state to obtain ISO & HACCP Certification. With the achievement of Star Export Certification by exporting Rs. 40 crore worth of products, it obtained the status of "Star Export House" last year. It is the one of the largest producer of milk powder with production capacity of 50 tons per day. It has also set up separate entity in the areas of Navi Mumbai with its modern and packing stations. Warana dairy has been independent entity with the vision of Late Tatyasaheb Kore's efforts and professional group of management.
