Luca De Massis
A photograph is beholded by everyone but very few of them are really interested to know about the story behind it. It is very sad to say that a photograph is praised but not the photographer who captured it. Taking the perfect shot isn't always that easy as it seems to the rest of the world.
Have you ever wondered that up to what extent a photographer can go to instill life in his captures? Many times, he has to risk his own life to deliver a masterpiece, but he laughingly conquers all the obstacles just to bring a smile on the viewer's face.
The work practice of the professional photographer are currently undergoing rapid changes in the digital era. Italy born American photographer Luca De Massis who is known worldwide for his extraordinary pieces in the realms of fashion and cinematography, shared his views on the struggles faced by the photographers.
Luca says that the new technologies and platforms are exerting a wide range of pressures and influences that require photographers to adapt and respond in different ways.
Luca further adds that the changes provoke a number of questions that are critical to the future of professional photographers and the most important one being: âWhat are the new risks being faced by photographers?'
Well, sources indicate that there is a high degree of risk experienced among professional photographers with a very strong correlation to the country in which they are based.
Being a well-established self-taught photographer himself, Luca strongly feels that they are actually the real people telling the reality to the world. Photographers wherever they are from, definitely feel that they have different challenges in their daily lives.
Luca reveals that the photographer is the target of everything. He is in the war, he is covering the dashes, and he is covering the gun battles and also the pandemic recently. So a photographer is always somewhere in the middle and has to be very careful about what he is doing. In fact the Italian photographer himself has always brought out the glory of Italian art wherever he went.
Photojournalists are used to put themselves in precarious and potentially harmful situations, but in those situations, they are the ones at risk, they are not putting people at risk.
Many people don't appreciate the dangers that photographers often face in trying to capture the moment. That's especially true when the danger is an invisible one. But we cannot deny the fact that, the commitment of photographers everywhere deserve our appreciation and thanks.
Even during the pandemic because of which the entire world is suffering, the reporters are working from their home but photographers can't even do that, in fact they are risking their lives to capture the pandemic.
Some photographers need to bend over backwards to get the shot they are envisioning, and a selected few will go even further than that. At the heart of every artist is an inherent drive to push the limits.
Luca De Massis whose works have been featured in the top most magazines and have been acknowledged not only by the general audience but also celebrities like American actor Robert Davi, is truly a trailblazer in his filed and always willing to go the extra mile to capture the perfect moment!
