The element of comic, whether for on-stage performance, in movies or real life or in popular or literary expression is remarkably difficult, more so, when true creative output is needed. It might look easy to make people laugh, but it is a challenging task for the artist. After all, it requires an apprehension of comic in gross and ordinary outer reality, spontaneity and a great sense of apropriate moment when to deliver solid punches. Making people laugh with his naïve looking punch lines, Dinesh Bawra has been a sustaining source of true entertainment to the audience with his comical acts. His insightful comic recital of poetry has pleasingly amused audience as an old player in comic delivery as he evolved into a âhasya kavi' from a semi-finalist in âThe Great Indian Laughter Challenge'.
He has asserted his presence through participation in âLife OK's Standup Comedy Show âLaugh India Laugh'. Born and raised in Mumbai's suburban area--Ambarnath, Kavi Bawra believes that entertaining the audience is what he is born for. "I feel glad when I get compliments on being a reason behind someone's smile. It motivates me to hone my art as an artist", says Dinesh Bawra. With his fluency in languages like Hindi, Marathi and English, the artist first understands the context and sensitivity of the topic before giving a comical twist.
According to him, comedy is not about laughing at people's follies or at ironical turn of unexpected comic happening from a set of situation. Rather, he looks at the genre as an expression of ever present absurd and comic in human life. Showcasing his potential as an actor, Dinesh Bawra has worked in a film titled âBhavnao Ko Shamjho'. Besides acting, the comical artist holds various other skills. He has learnt singing and has two audio cassettes under his name released by Tips - âHassi Ke Hasgulle' and âHasyamev Jayate'.
The exceptional talent that Dinesh Bawra possesses has helped him share the podium with well-established names. Bawra has been a part of many Hindi poetry recital programs and has shared a stage with Nausad Ali, Gopaldas Niraj, Javed Akhtar, Ashok Chakradhar, Late Shail Chaturvedi, Hullad Muradabadi, Surendra Sharma, Dr. Kumar Vishwas, Dr. Sunil Jogi, Arun Jemini, Subhash Kabra and many more.
Besides this, he has worked with renowned names from the industry like Kapil Sharma, Shatrughan Sinha, Raju Srivastav and Bharti Singh to name a few. He says, "I have learnt a lot from other artists. I feel that the people I have worked with have imbibed great knowledge about stage drama and films in general. That's how you grow, by learning from experienced artists in the industry." Paying attention to improvising his skills, the versatile personality has mastered the art and has frequently been an invitee for many national and international programs in India and overseas.
