After the recent launch of Z900, z650, Ninja 650 and ninja 300, Kawasaki will launch the 2017 versions of the Z1000 and Z250
Kawasaki launched 2017 versions of four motorcycles - the Z900, Z650, Ninja 650 and Ninja 300 with BS-IV engines on March 25, 2017. In less than a month's time, the Japanese manufacturer is now set to launch two new motorcycles - the Z1000 and Z250. The updated motorcycles get BS-IV engines. The Z1000 is the flagship motorcycle in the Z series while the Z250 is the smallest and most affordable motorcycle of the lot.
The Z1000 is powered by a 1043cc engine which develops 142PS @ 11,000rpm and a peak torque of 111Nm @ 7,300rpm. The motorcycle gets twin-tube aluminium frame. Braking duties are done by dual semi-floating 310mm petal disc rotors with 4-piston caliper at the front and single 250mm petal disc with single piston caliper at the rear. The Z1000 gets 41mm USD forks at the front 120mm travel and horizontal back-link, gas charged monoshock unit at the rear. Seat height is 815mm, ground clearance is 125mm and the motorcycle gets fuel tank capacity of 17 litres. It is shod with 120/70 Z R17 tyre at the front and 190/50 Z R17 tyre at the rear. The motorcycle is priced at Rs 12.45 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and we expect a price bump of around Rs 50,000 - Rs 1 lakh for the 2017 model over the current one.
The Z250 is the most affordable motorcycle offered by Kawasaki, it is powered by 249cc parallel twin engine which produces 32PS @ 11,000rpm and a peak torque of 21Nm @ 10,000rpm. It is constructed over a diamond type steel frame. Braking duties are handled by a 290mm petal disc rotor with two-piston caliper at the front and a 220mm petal disc rotor with dual piston caliper at the rear. The Z250 gets a 37mm telescopic fork suspension with 120mm travel at the front and bottom-link uni-trak gas charged monoshock unit with 130mm travel at the rear. Seat height and ground clearance is 785mm and 145mm respectively and it gets 17 litres of fuel tank capacity. The motorcycle is priced at Rs 3.11 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and we expect a price hike of Rs 20,000 to Rs 40,000 for the 2017 model over the current one.
