The NCPA is hosting an interactive musical course this week, which hopes to inculcate basic knowledge about hindustani music to participants.
The course will be conducted by Geetika Varde Qureshi, a veteran vocalist with the Jaipur Atrauli gharana. Spread over two days, the course will lead the audiences into understanding the common terminologies of Hindustani classical music such as the difference between a sur. taal, alaap etc. It will also include listening to demonstration and recordings by renowned composers like Pandit Jasraj, Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia etc. This interactive course will also offer written material on different notes in various ragas, rules and regulations as well as the difference between different gharanas in Hindustani music.
