New Delhi: Google on Wednesday officially announced Android 5.0 Lollipop successor Android 5.1 update for supported smartphones which include HTC's Nexus 9, Motorola's Nexus 6 and other Android devices.

Grand unveiling of Android Lollipop 5.1 is the second major notification after Android 5.0 was release in November last year.

Google's blog reads as, "Today we are rolling out Android 5.1 - an update to Lollipop that improves stability and performance and offers a few new features like support for multiple SIM cards, Device Protection and high-definition (HD) voice on compatible phones."

Google's new update has laid a lot of emphasis on stability and enhancement stability along with newly enthused security features such as theft protection which is in response to the Cupertino's Active Lock and it works on the same same anti-theft guidelines meaning that no one can garner access to your phone until and unless you sign in your google account.

The update gets Dual SIM card support and crystal clear voice calling with HD support on compatible devices which was earlier available on Orange and EE.

The new Operating System lets your device connect to Wi-Fi and Bluetooth networks through Quick Settings instead of browsing through the menu. Google 5.1 Lollipop fixes bugs like battery draining bug and the random faults that was not happening in the earlier roll out.
