"We use chocolate powder in the chocolate modaks," informs Hiralal of Bikaner Sweets. Those looking for less variety, can always opt for their milk modaks, which are available throughout the season of Ganesh Chaturthi.

Ukadiche modaks at Modakam
The owners of Modakam are proud that the only kind of modak you will find here throughout the year are the 'traditional' ones, so don't go expecting fancy flavours. Puskaraj Gaikar of Modakam also informs us that the modaks are made without moulds or 'handcrafted', and suggests that if you plan to drop by that you do so before 7 pm, as chances are that the modaks will be sold out after that.
