New Delhi: Keeping in mind the changing needs of riders around the world, online transportation firm Uber on Thursday launched, or rather revamped its older app to a faster, smarter and more personalised one.
"We designed the new Uber app around you and our core beliefs that time is a luxury and that the information you need should always be at your fingertips," said Uber's Senior Product Manager Yuhki Yamashita in a statement.
Here are the changes that you will find in the new Uber app:
1. Destination first: The app has been redesigned around the principle of "Where to"? It leads to a better journey by starting with the rider's destination.
2. Shortcuts: This feature will be able to predict where passengers are heading to.
3. People search: This upcoming feature of Uber will allow users to set destination to a person instead of a place, something we have been doing till now. Passengers only need to sync the contact of that particular person with the app. The Uber ride will start once the location is shared.
4. Choose car and compare fare: Uber is about to make car and fare comparison easier. Fares of different car services like UberGo, UberX and Uber Pool can be tracked and compared at ease now.
Soon, riders will also be able to connect their calendar with Uber. Once connected, the riders' meetings and appointments will automatically appear as "shortcuts", saving them the hassle of digging through another app to find the right address.
Uber is coming up with another feature called Uber Feed. The company also has plans to launch yet another feature called Uber Feed, which will help passengers to order food on their way to work or home.
The revamped app is rolling out globally on iOS and Android over the next several weeks starting Thursday. It comes with a redesigned logo too.
