Audio cassettes might seem out of date but 23-year-old Anjali Malhotra had other ideas when she decided to give them a new lease of life by turning these
into lamps.
Her idea, 10 am, is a playground for such funky themes and quirks. Malhotra, who studied Mass Media from a city college always had a creative bent and took it forward when she started her label this year. "I am a footballer and my jersey number at matches and national-levels has always been 10 while AM are my initials, hence the name," explains Malhotra, who post her studies dabbled in Public Relations, event management and even graphic designing for a few months. Though not a trained product designer, Malhotra took art courses and learnt graphic designing on the side while studying. "I wanted the products to be something I would pick up when I walk into a store or even my mother could buy (which is why the trays, breakfast and bedside tables),"
she says.
Malhotra also offers customising options for all her products, that include personalised alcohol bottle labels, watches and lamps printed with photographs of your loved-ones and even handpainted portraits and caricatures.
Currently retailing through her Facebook page, one can also pick products up from her workshop at Nepean Sea Road.
