With Google Cardboard, you can now enjoy the virtual reality gaming experience on your smartphone, without burning a hole in your pocket. Jaison Lewis brings you seven VR-based games that you must try on your Cardboard
End Space VR
End Space VR, a space-based shooter, features some fantastic 3D graphics with immersive sound. The game-play is never ending with increasingly harder waves of enemies thrown at you. The game supports both trigger-based and gaze-based game-play; it even supports use of Bluetooth game controllers. To truly experience its immersive environment, use a pair of headphones for sound.

BombSquad VR
Bombsquad lets you blow your friends up in a bunch of mini-games, including capture the flag, king on the hill, onslaught and racing. The multiplayer game features rag-doll physics and tonnes of explosions. The game needs a Bluetooth controller, though we won't recommend using other phones and tablets as controllers for the game.

Hardcode
Hardcore is a third-person mobile shooter with VR. The game very strictly requires a Bluetooth game controller, and has both single-player and online multiplayer missions. Hardcore is the sort of game you will spend hours playing. Despite its simple graphics, it is a lot of fun in VR.

Lamper VR: Firefly Rescue
Lamper VR is a sort of endless runner in virtual reality, where you fly through a continuous map riddled with obstacles, enemies and power-ups. You play a firefly that's taking on the spiders that have invaded the firefly kingdom. The game looks fantastic and lets you choose from five distinct characters. The best part is that it is free and is great for kids.

WAA! VR
WAA! (When Asteroids Attack!) VR is a hands-free game that lets you destroy killer asteroids before they take you out. You have to focus on the asteroids to launch missiles and look at batteries, screws and wrenches for power-ups. The game is fun, though it can get a little dizzying as the pace picks up.

Caaaaardboard!
Oddly-named Caaaaardboard!, this one is a fantastic VR game, where you dive off buildings and use your gaze to direct yourself through transparent checkpoints. Caaaaardboard! is also hands free. You can control the game by just looking at it. And while it is engaging, you might strain your neck from constantly looking down, as you play.
