Considering Mumbai is the city that gave birth to the Indian Modern Art Movement, it's only fair that something like this is up for grabs for the art chronicler in the city.

Which is why we like the fact that the Dr Bhau Daji Lad City Museum is taking the lead in this regard with their one-year PG Diploma course in Modern and Contemporary Art. Not only does this provide students an opportunity to understand the finer points of Indian art from 1850 till now, but it also gives them wide perspective and exposure.

There will be seminars, lectures by Indian and international experts, field trips and a host of opportunities to realise one's dream to be curators, exhibition managers, art historians, writers and educators or conservators including several other art centric professions. The course will be an excellent base to understand the aesthetics of art and thereby, form a band of resourceful professionals in sync with the Indian art scene.
