San Francisco: Apple said that more than 10 million of its iPhone 6 and iPhone 6Plus devices were sold on the first weekend.
"Sales of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6Plus have surpassed our expectations for the launch weekend and we could not be happier," Apple CEO Tim Cook said in a statement Monday.
"We want to thank our clients who had made this the best release ever," he added.

The newest Apple smartphones are on sale in the US, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore and Britain and the company says these will be available in 115 countries by the end of the year.
The sales figures do not include China, potentially one of the largest markets, because the iPhone 6 has not been approved yet by the Chinese authorities.
The iPhone 6 series phones are Apple's largest so far and prices range from $199 to $499.
