With the National Parkour Jam currently underway, you have all the reason to jump, drop, leap, climb and run to the event that has been organised to popularise the sporty, physically strenuous discipline in the city

"We organise local Parkour events on a regular basis, but this is our all India annual event. This includes practitioners from all over the country, who come to the city to take part in the event and practice Parkour today," says Nos, the organiser of the event.

"Parkour has been around in India for a few years now, and there are several communities in the country who have been practicing it. This is an annual opportunity to get together, practice and show people what Parkour is all about," he shares.

Developed in France by David Belle, Parkour is a way of moving ahead by vaulting, rolling, running, climbing, and jumping. It's physically strenuous and requires proper training. Along with the physical routines, the event also includes talks on various topics related to the discipline.

"We've got several seminars lined up. It's important to talk about aspects related to Parkour, and since the event will have people of similar interests, we have decided to hold a couple of seminars as well," Nos elaborates.

"Most people don't know how to train properly, so we have a seminar where we will inform people about how to train and protect themselves from injury. Then, there is another session on safety, which is extremely important," he adds.

They have also organised a Sledgehammer Challenge on Sunday, which is an invitation only activity. "Parkour Mumbai Sledgehammer is a type of obstacle course game that challenges the physical and locomotor skills of participants in a series of physical tests designed to test the participants' strength, power, speed, stamina, skill, dexterity, determination, mental grit, and presence of mind while overcoming the challenges thrown at them. It's an invitation only event as it will be very extreme and difficult, with only trained practitioners of Parkour participating in it. However, it will be treat to watch for others," Nos assure us.
