With over 1,500 products from more than 130 international and Indian brands, Foodesto.com has positioned itself as a platform that will cater to the fine food requirements of the upscale urban Indian. Reality cooking shows on television including Masterchef and many others have caught the attention of Indian gourmet and the interest and knowledge in international cuisines and products has risen to a large extent. The month-old website, Foodesto.com, which has already got many regular customers seems to have struck a chord at the right time.
Click and cook
Set up by three Mumbai-based friends, Vikram Khanna, Tarun Khanna and Pankaj Chandra, this website offers a range of products in gourmet, organic and natural foods for the health-conscious and time-starved homemaker. "In the Indian market, it is difficult to find high-end gourmet food products," says Vikram Khanna. "To find quality gourmet products, one has to browse from one store to another. So, we decided to start an online service that offers all the requirements of fine food under one roof," he shares.

Log on to the website and you will see a range of categories, cuisines and brands. Some of the categories include breakfast, bakery, confectionary, meat, poultry and a lot more. They offer products in Japanese, Italian, Mexican, Pan-Asian and Mediterranean cuisines and in Indian cuisine they offer only organic products.
They also have a tie-up with organisations like Down to Earth, 24 Letter Mantra, Fabindia, Nourish Organics and Conscious Foods, which enables them to offer a decent assortment of natural and organic foods. "People today have become more health conscious. Many know of products like Quinoa, which is a high protein gluten-free grain and can be cooked and eaten as cereal for breakfast," says Khanna.
Easy pickings
Foodesto.com also has a cold chain that helps them deliver fresh bread, desserts, condiments, cold cuts, cheese and more sourced daily from popular outlets like Moshe's and Santé's Delicatessen. "We also have a range of Gluten-free products and products for special dietary needs like diabetes.
We offer a whole range of kitchen accessories and equipment," adds Khanna. Once the order is placed the product will be delivered in less than 24 hours within Mumbai. Soon, they also plan to start a four-hour express service where the order will be delivered within four hours.
