With the festive season just a few days away, it's time to add some new outfits to your wardrobe. The Guide spoke to designers across the city to offer some handy tips to our readers.
Designer Pawan Sachdev says that desi wear is mandatory given that it's Navratri. Bandhani designs and tie and die apparel are must during a festive occasion like this. Try to incorporate them at least somewhere in your look.
Don't forget to add some twist to your ethnic wear to make the right style statement. Women can wear lehengas and sarees for parties. The look should be formal with an Indian touch. It could be something fun with a bit of drape and bling. Men can opt for Western and Indo-Western outfits."
Fashion designer Nivedita Saboo explains that bright colours are ideal for the festive season. "Smart lehengas with backless cholis or full sleeve cholis will also look good. For men also, traditional wear like dhoti-kurta are best for this season."
Sachdev observes that for women, anarkalis and lehengas are a safe bet: "Try floor-sweeping anarkalis in vibrant colours which complete the look of celebration. Lehengas with longer tops and even short cholis can emphasise your look for the evening." u00a0And for men, he advises Western outfits like Nehru jackets, jackets in fleece and velvet which can be teamed with nice vibrant coloured scarfs.

"Men can go for suits in Indo-Western style like a jacket suit and pant in sheer fabrics or embroidery or other detailed work. If they want a completely Indian look, they can choose a kurta pyjama along with a long vibrant Nehru jacket or even dhoti pants to add to their look. A bandhej stole or sometimes even a pocket square can add a quirky element," he states.
Karishma Jamwal, designer and brand owner of Lotus Sutra, says that long cogs, anarkalis with jackets are in vogue, especially ones with a touch of gold. "The traditional colours like red, blue, orange and pink look good on this occasion."
Megha Samor, designer for the label Samor, says that bright colours are trending. "Hand embroidery is in trend, as well as maximum gheras for women. For men, dhotis are in trend now."
