Since its inception, the Nehru Centre has been instrumental in providing a platform to artistes from all over India to showcase their talent. Keeping in sync with its tradition, the institution is organising Glimpses of Rajasthan, a cultural fiesta that will showcase folk music, dance forms and artwork from Rajasthan and Maharashtra.
LH Kazi, director, culture wing, Nehru Centre, says, "Both states are known for their art and folklore. This unique programme will showcase their rich cultural heritage."
The eight-day extravaganza will showcase the works of 112 artistes from both states. The programme includes Kathak dance performances from the Jaipur gharana, story-telling workshops and traditional Rajasthani Lok Geets.
There will also be block-printing, lacquer crafts, jewellery and puppet making workshops. Nina Rege, assistant director, Nehru Centre, says, "We got in touch with the Lalit Kala Academy and the Rajasthan Cultural Centre to choose various artistes from the villages of Rajasthan. It took us six months to conceptualise the event."
