Legends Motorcycling Museum & Cafe is a biker's dream come true, and for the rest of us, a warm cafe that doesn't pinch the pocket

It might look monumental on the outside, but once you step in, Legends Motorcycling Cafe & Museum will transport you back to your grandpa's living room with knick knacks that are no less than collectibles.

An exhibit at the Motorcycle Museum

The ground floor of the building is dedicated to the cafe with a few tables and a bar counter stacked with sparkling white coffee cups. You will also notice an old sewing machine converted into a table, metal buckets which will soon be filled with dry flowers and some interesting ash trays and coasters. Place your order and walk upstairs to the museum for a good look while your order is being whipped up.

The museum space in the first floor is dedicated to owner and biker Prabhu's collection of vintage bikes, scotch bottles, ash trays and quirky cigarette packs. A biker himself, Prabhu started out his collection in the year 1992 and has acquired most of the imported bikes through previous Indian owners. Some of them even go back to the British colonial era.The room in itself is designed to give you a vintage feel.

We headed back to the cafe space and huddled ourselves into the closely placed chairs. We were greeted with triangular bowls of steaming Cream of Chicken Soup (R 55). The soup was regular fare with chunks of chicken soaked up in a creamy broth.

We opted for Boneless Tender Chicken with Chilli Flakes (R 50) for starters and were quite delighted with what came our way. Crispy fried pieces of chicken dunked in barbecue sauce and seasoned with chilli flakes paired well with the bland soup gave the meal the twist we were looking for. For the main course, the options are limited at the moment as the cafe has not formally opened. We were offered Chicken A-la-king (R 110) with a few samplers of Stuffed Mushroom Oily (R 50).

The chicken was a white sauce preparation that came with herbed rice. While the meat was tender, the white sauce was creamy, paired well with herbed rice that came with tomatoes. The crispy fried balls were stuffed with mushrooms and cheese. The cafe will be formally launched over the weekend and will offer an array of beverages with main courses and desserts. What will perhaps take us back to this cafe is the subtle, woody ambience,a vintage feel and the rock bottom prices that promise to keep all the weight in your wallet intact.
