What would you give credit to for your success at the age of 24?
I credit the time and energy I put into making this my career and my manager, Ash. When I met Ash, he took my career to a completely different level; I would not be where I am if it weren't for him.
Rising to the top must not have been easy with you falling ill (your gigs in India were cancelled)â¦
I turned my life around. I don't drink anymore and I'm living a much healthier lifestyle. It's challenging but I feel better now than I ever have before. Also, my trainer showed me a lot of things and exercises that I can do on the road.
What would be your advice for other young DJs?
It's a challenging industry because it can be a nonstop party, which is not necessarily a bad thing -- I still party, I just party sober! But everybody's different so they're going to have to see what's right for them.
EDM is a cutthroat genre today. How do you stay on the top? Is there bad blood among professionals due to the competition?
Since I started, I've been working a lot on my signature sound, the big-room melodic sound; which sets me apart from other producers and what they're doing. There is no doubt that the industry is competitive, but from my experience, I wouldn't say there is "bad blood". There could be, but I'm fortunate that I haven't experienced anything like that.
Tell us a bit about True...
While making this album, I didn't set any boundaries. I wanted to explore what I could do personally, while making the most out of all the amazing people I was working with. I wasn't necessarily making music that would only work during a set; this album was me trying to make music that had meaning. I'm really pleased with the end result and I hope my fans enjoy it as much as I do!
Do you ever get tired of music?
I don't think I'll ever get tired of music. But when I want silence,I pick up a book and relax.
Where do you see yourself 10 years down the line?
I'm going to keep doing what I'm doing and keep building, as long as I still love it, which is the most important thing for me.
