Don't go by the basic, no-frills look of Luckyu00a0-- Amritsari Kulcha. You'll find yourself devouring this authentic Punjabi specialty before you can say "Balle Balle"
It's a blink-and-you-miss cart revelling in the glory of the dozen eateries around it. One bite into any of the delicious fare at Lucky's Amritsari Kulchas and you will realise who is the future king of this grub-hood. The kulcha is a favorite snack or meal option in many north Indian states and so, it's good news that the delicious Amritsari kulcha has made its way to Mumbai shores.
Mix Veg Kulcha
There is also a special menu at the venue where you get to see a step-by-step visual guide of how the Kulcha is prepared. Flour dough, mashed potatoes, onion (optional) and lots of spices are rolled into a flat round shape and baked in an earthen clay oven until golden brown. We just couldn't wait.
We began our feast with the Cheese Kulcha (Rs 50). Very basic! This one uses the freshest of cheese available to deliver a great cheesy bite. The Mix Vegetable Kulcha (Rs 100) was tasty and delicious and was stuffed with mashed and seasoned potato, finely chopped garlic, finely chopped onion, and deliciously chopped coriander. The filling was added at the stage when the dough balls were being made.
The Mustard Garlic Kulcha (Rs 100) was painted with a delicious international flavour. It was served with a tinge of burnt garlic. This was easily amongst the best of the lot that we tasted at Lucky's. All the kulchas served here preserve the true Punjabi flavours embedded not just in the kulchas but also in the chole and delicious tamarind chutney that accompany every kulcha.
With an emphasis on taste, quality, nutrition and hygiene at competitive costs, Luckyu00a0-- Amritsari Kulcha is here to stay. The only downer is that there is no seating at all. But we'll let that pass, especially after a satisfying Punjabi feast.
At VM Road, opposite Option Mall, JVPD Scheme, Juhu, Mumbai.
