As people from Kerala celebrate Onam this weekend, Mumbai's restaurants and hotels are hosting a wide variety of meals that cater to every kind of diner. Coastal feast
This Onam, TAT - Coastal Cuisine is hosting a coastal-inspired menu that has been thoughtfully designed to capture the rich, authentic flavours of Kerala while adding a contemporary twist that promises a sensory journey along the Malabar coastline with the Onam Sadhya. Begin your feast with Sambar, a fragrant lentil stew simmered with vegetables and aromatic spices, and Pulissery, a tangy yoghurt-based curry featuring tender white pumpkin. Dive into Avial, a vibrant medley of vegetables cooked in a creamy coconut gravy, and savor the refreshing Beetroot Pachadi, a unique blend of sweet and tangy flavors. The pièce de résistance, however, is Ada Pradhaman—an exquisite dessert made with flat rice noodles, organic jaggery, and creamy coconut milk, offering the perfect sweet finale. accompaniments like Pulli Ingi, a tangy tamarind-ginger relish, and Kadumanga, a spicy mango pickle, bring a burst of zest. Upperi and banana chips provide a delightful crunch, while fresh bananas and crispy pappadums round out this traditional feast.

Onam Brunch 
Why only indulge in Sadhya-style meal? The Fern Goregaon is bringing a taste of Kerala to Mumbai with a special Onam Brunch on Sunday, September 15 at the hotel's all-day dining outlet, Fleur. The menu has been curated by executive chef Sanjiv Kumar and his team while focusing on the essence of the festivals. Diners can indulge in an array of traditional delicacies, including the much-loved sweet Payasam, a quintessential Onam treat. The feast will feature an assortment of authentic dishes that celebrate the essence of Kerala’s harvest season, from spicy curries to aromatic rice preparations.

A complete feast 
At JW Marriott Mumbai Juhu, the Indian-speciality restaurant, Saffron, is hosting a special Onam Sadhya menu with a 17-dish spread that includes some of Kerala's favourite dishes on September 15. Some of the highlights are dishes such as the refreshing Beetroot and Cucumber Pachadi, the hearty Kadala Curry, the delicate Olan, and the much-loved Malabari Parotta. Diners can end their meal with Sarkkara Varatiyatu, a sweetened coconut treat, or Ada Pradaman, a sweet, creamy dessert.

Vegetarian and Non-Vegetarian feast
At the newly-opened Navi Mumbai Marriott Hotel, the all-day dining restaurant 7 Isles is celebrating Onam with an Onam Sadhya in the form of a special Brunch on September 15. Curated by the executive chef Rohan Malwankar, it celebrates the state's vibrant cuisine with a wide variety of dishes. The menu includes dishes such as Avial, Sambhar, Rasam, Kalan, Puli Inji, Pachadi, Erissery, Kootu Kari, Puliserry, Kaaoea Varuthatha, and the decadent Ada Pradhaman. For non-vegetarian food lovers, a separate section will offer Kerala-inspired non-vegetarian dishes in a bid to take to every kind of palate. The brunch experience will be enhanced with refreshing drinks, including Sangrias, and the quintessential Kerala beverage, Sambharam, spiced buttermilk. The experience will also feature a special setup with kids’ activities in focus, and a live band to bring in the festivities with your loved ones.

The Malabar Thattukada stage will bring the lively flavours of Kerala's street food to life with live cooking. You can indulge in a variety of south Indian delicacies, from traditional dishes to seafood and meat grills infused with aromatic Southern spices. A selection of authentic Southern pickles adds a tangy twist, while the meal ends on a sweet note with payasams.
