Rohit Bal was born in Srinagar on May 8 in 1961 in the Kashmir Valley before moving to Delhi and then studying at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) in the capital.

While he initially worked in his family's export business, the Indian fashion designer started his independent collection in 1990 and never looked back and went on to have a fabulous career establishing him as one of the finest.

The Indian fashion designer was known for his intricate use of rich fabrics like velvet and brocade adorned with signature flower and peacock motifs.

Over the years, Ranbir Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Katrina Kaif, Sonam Kapoor, Abhishek Bachchan, Arjun Rampal and others have worn his creations and walked for him at fashion shows.Bal not only designed for Indian celebrities but also Hollywood celebrities like Cindy Crawford, Uma Thurman, Pamela Anderson and Naomi Campbell.

In October, Rohit Bal presented his latest collection Kaaynaat: A Bloom in the Universe at the FDCI x Lakme Fashion Week with Ananya Panday as his showstopper.
