Weddings are fun, yet they can also be a lot of work - especially if you're worried about appearances. We all know someone or are that someone who is eager to attend the shenanigans yet wary of the tiresome effort that goes into acing a look - from clothing to makeup.
"It is exciting to get all dolled up and show up to a wedding function. One of the most important bits of advice I have to offer is that, after all the fun, don't forget to wipe off that makeup and gunk before you go to bed. Do your skin a favour and promise to never take yesterday's makeup to bed with you," says Mausam Gandhi, internationally certified bridal makeup artist. Mid-Day.com asked the expert to share effective makeup tips to help you put forth your best glamourous self this wedding season.
Brush your worries away
Keep your brushes clean as a general practice so that you don't have to stress about them during a series of functions. This will ensure that your skin doesn't have any breakouts on your important days. Wash off your brushes and keep them dry inside a clean pouch or cloth. Don't toss them around.
Moisture is the key
Make sure to prep your face and moisturise well before starting your makeup. This avoids flaky skin and cracks when you complete your look. Dry skin is never a good sight to see under makeup. Also, that dewy glow that you aspire to have will be achieved if your skin is smooth and moisturised.

Don't forget the delicate areas
Use lip balm and eye cream regularly for a couple of weeks before you are about to attend an event. Good skin equals good makeup. When the skin is good, makeup will turn out flawless as it gets a clean canvas.
Never go overboard
We often come across the âless is more' approach and this is true for makeup as well. Don't overdo the base. Your skin is supposed to look like skin. Don't go overboard with foundation and powder. The trend of full coverage is long gone! Besides, you don't want to look caked up. Use the products judiciously.
Let your eyes do the talking
Go glam with the eyes, the drama there will surely elevate your look and take it to the next level! Using a suitable concealer on the under-eye area uplifts the entire look and makes you look fresh even if you've not had the chance to get some beauty sleep. Browse for looks that go with a particular outfit so that you don't mess up at the eleventh hour.
Voluptuous lashes
Definitely wear eye lashes for evening events, and individual lashes for day events. The neatness and drama that comes with a good pair of lashes is unbeatable.
Shine on
Gloss it up, âtis the season for all things gloss. Pull back your hair, giving it a clean look and wear a glossy lip.
Nude lips? Oh yes
Make nude lips your BFF, be it any event - a party or a wedding. Whether you're a bride or bridesmaid, nude is definitely going to look good.
Dewy skin is worth it
We already know that dewy skin is currently trending, and it's a trend that's here to stay. Add gloss on your cheekbones instead of powder highlighter to give a natural dewy glow to your face.
Try something new
We mostly go with looks that are tried and tested and âsafe' as an option, but every now and then you must try a different look to add some glam. Don't be scared to experiment, a subtle touch of colour immediately makes your look super chic and fun, especially for day events.
