Mumbai-based Misha Paul embarked on her first ever sailing experience last week when she got to know her friend was sailing. She sailed from Mumbai to Mandhwa and found it to be an incredible experience, and now wants to learn how to sail. Being a Mumbaikar for a long time now, she has always found the water appealing, and since she always looks out for new experiences, sailing is the perfect blend of both for her.

Being in the events and experiences industry and actively exploring sailing since 2017, Colaba-based Shaun Dsouza (left) started The Bombay Gypsea in 2020 during the Covid-19 pandemic to help people explore the sea. He was later joined by Rohit Bhabania (right), his co-founder, and they started hosting different kinds of experiences for people since 2022.

The experiences include a wide variety of activities such as a historical sail exploring the history of Mumbai's art inspired by the water that are in plain sight but rarely noticed. They also have a maritime sail that showcases Mumbai's relationship with the water around it.

Interestingly, people also indulge in Holi parties and other kinds where there is a musician like a saxophonist, who plays for people in the evening sails, that also include a DJ playing live music for people, as they enjoy good food and drink.

Like Paul, Pragya Goyal is another lover of the water and started experiencing sailing two years ago. The city-based pastry chef has experienced different kinds of sails with her family, cousins and friends too, as she also wanted to explore different kinds of activities in Mumbai and feels a lot more people want to and sailing is one such unique experience.
