In 2002, Sangita Devi Kathiwada acquired the spacious Art Deco property and refurbished it to reflect a contemporary lifestyle. Located in one of the quaint bylanes of Worli's Pochkhanwala neighbourhood, it is easy to spot the Kathiwada City House. Photo Courtesy: Art Deco Mumbai
Dil Pazir, Warden road, Breach Candy
Art Deco buildings also played with asymmetrical façade compositions. In Dil Pazir the rounded corner windows on the left side of the building are not replicated on the right. Likewise the projecting curving balconies are only on the right side and not symmetrically on both side. Photo Courtesy: Art Deco Mumbai
Soona Mahal, Marine Drive
Besides bold geometrical designs with Egyptian and Indian motifs, flat roofs, smooth walls, modern building materials, stenciled fonts as primary features of Art-Deco Architecture, features from Ocean Liners also influenced the built form. Photo Courtesy: Art Deco Mumbai
