Madhura Pandit Jasraj, wife of Late Pandit Jasraj, passed away earlier today due to age-related illness at 86, according to the family's spokesperson. In her lifetime, she donned many hats and has written several books, and even turned filmmaker among other things. Here's all you need to know about her

Madhura Pandit Jasraj is populary known as the wife of Indian classic vocalist Late Pandit Jasraj, who belonged to the Mewati gharana, and had a career of over 75 years before he passed away in August 2020. During their lifetime, she had collaborated with him on many projects but the one that she holds dear is the dance ballet, Geet Govind, according to her interview with mid-day in 2016.

Madhura was also the daughter of renowned Indian filmmaker V Shantaram, known for his work in Hindi and Marathi films. 

She even turned author and went on to write his biographies in the later years. They were 'Shantarama' in the Marathi language, and 'V Shantaram: The Man Who Changed Indian Cinema', in English.

While she had previously directed films such as Sangeet Martand Pandit Jasraj (2009) and Aai Tuza Ashirwad (2010), she directed her debut Hindi feature film at 78. In the past, she had also directed documentaries on both her father and husband, and also directed 'Faster Fenay', a TV series on Doordarshan, according to her interview with mid-day in 2016.

Madhura married Pandit Jasraj in 1962, and together they shared children Shaarang Dev Pandit and daughter Durga Jasraj, both of whom are musicians.
