Delhi-based Indian rock band Indian Ocean performed in Mumbai on May 20, as a part of the 'Tu Hai' tour, playing songs from their latest album by the same name, and some of their favourites from over thirty years that they have existed in the Indian indie scene. Stalwarts in their own right, they not only played songs like 'Jaadu Maaya', 'Iss Tan Dhan', 'Jungle', 'Rebirth' and 'Tu Hai' from their latest album but also hits like 'Tu Kisi Rail Si', 'Mann Kasturi', 'Bandeh' and 'Kandisa' too. All of which took their loyal fans on a melodious journey that led them to wave their hands and sing along with them

On their 'Tu Hai' tour in India, Indian rock band Indian Ocean started their performance in Mumbai at Phoenix Market City in Kurla, with 'Rebirth', one of the six tracks from their latest album 'Tu Hai' and that set the tone for the rest of the evening. Photo Courtesy: Nascimento Pinto
The Delhi band comprising of Rahul Ram on bass guitar, Nikhil Rao on lead guitar, Himanshu Joshi on vocals, Tuheen Chakravorty on tabla and percussions, and Amit Kilam on drums and percussions, also played 'Jaadu Maaya', written by lyricist Varun Grover and it was like an anthem in itself. Even though the five-piece band didn't have the likes of Indian percussionist Vikku Vinayakram and American saxophonist George Brooks, who they collaborated with for 'Iss Tan Dhan' and 'Jungle', their own versions were beautifully put together. They also played 'Tu Hai' and it was well received. Photo Courtesy: Nascimento Pinto
If their new album had pumped everybody up, it only got better with their favourites. The band played a soulful 'Tu Kisi Rail Si' and 'Mann Kasturi' from the 2015 film 'Masaan', that got everybody singing along. Photo Courtesy: Nascimento Pinto
