During Ganesh Chaturthi the markets are abuzz with vibrant stalls selling intricately crafted Ganesha idols, colorful makhars, and an assortment of traditional Chaturthi snacks, filling the air with an atmosphere of festivity and devotion.

Ganesh Chaturthi being an integral part of Goa’s cultural heritage serves as a unifying force for family reunions and social gatherings.

From eco-friendly idols to vibrant processions and traditional Goan cuisine, the festivities here reflect a distinctive cultural charm and community spirit.

During Ganesh Chaturthi, Goan cuisine features a variety of traditional sweet treats. They not only make modaks but also nevris, shankarpalis and payas.

While the sweet dishes are popular, they also make different kinds of savoury dishes. Savoury dishes also play a significant role in the festivities. Khatkhatem is a mixed vegetable stew simmered with coconut and spices, offering a hearty and tangy contrast to the sweets. Moong Gathi is a dish made with sprouted moong beans, flavoured with coconut and spices, and provides a nutritious and flavourful option.
