FOUNDER OF EAT.FIT. REPEAT
In changing times, health is the first priority! But amidst so many fads and myths about diets or exercises, it gets difficult to adopt a good routine. On this mission to provide simple science and smarter eating strategies to empower you to enjoy a healthy and successful lifestyle, Ruchi Sharma, a nutritionist by profession, a foodie, and the founder of EAT FIT REPEAT is here to give you a quick sneak peek about healthy living, her journey and more. As an online consultancy, EAT FIT REPEAT has over 400 clients in 9 countries and is now spilling the beans for you about the ways you can take care of your health better with nutrition and exercise.
How did EAT FIT REPEAT started?
The EAT FIT REPEAT journey started after my postpartum in 2018, as a quest to find the most sustainable diet. After completing one of my many certifications, I started applying the science of fatloss on my family & friends and once they started showing results it gave me the confidence to bring EFR to the outside world.
I have finished a course of Communication Designing from Symbiosis institute of Pune & have a Masters degree in Business Administration from Pune University.
I may have realised it a little late but fitness was my calling. Once I started lifting weights, it transformed my outlook about well-being completely. I learned that transformation starts from within and through self-love. Since then it's my goal to take EAT FIT REPEAT to a new scale. We have already served clients in over 9 countries and we still continue to take it more globally.
How can one start their fitness journey?
I feel that people find it difficult to kickstart their fitness journey as they believe that it would require crucial changes. In reality, your fitness journey can easily slide in your normal routine with just a few slight tweaks. You need to be prepared for your health and fitness journey by simply understanding the basics and setting a simple goal. By being realistic and practical, you can understand the few lifestyle habits and changes you need to integrate. All you need to do is just start & enjoy this journey without only thinking about the end results.
If you had to suggest a diet chart for a healthy living, then what would be its core elements?
For healthy living, one needs to plan a diet chart that includes all food groups. It could mean that one must obtain this energy from nutrients in the food that you eat - mostly, carbohydrates, fats and proteins. Minerals and vitamins are other nutrients that are also important in your diet to help your body stay healthy. It is important to find the right balance between these different nutrients to achieve maximum health benefits. In addition to this, one must even ensure fibre and water intake to balance the nutrients in a holistic way!
What are your thoughts on maintaining a good diet for a healthy body?
Being a nutritionist was once a dream for me, and now it has become a living reality. But during this transition, I have realised that you can never force your body to lose weight, you need to create an environment that allows it to lose weight. We all need a smart food structure that adds value to our health and our life. Hence, changing the lifestyle is the best, easy and sustainable way to lose/gain or maintain a healthy weight and prevent or cure a disease.
Do you think extreme diets work for people who are looking for quick weight loss?
I have seen that it is a common fad that crash diets can help you lose weight quickly. However, in reality it's very common to gain weight after a crash diet as one is not going to burn calories or fat in the long run. One may see the diet working in the short run maybe through a decrease in the number on the scale, but it won't improve your overall health outcomes. Hence, I suggest my clients to not fall for these diet fads. A proper balanced diet, workout regime and controlled calories can help one with their weight loss!
What's the role of regular exercise in maintaining the body weight?
I truly feel that exercise is a part of weight management practice. I recommended my clients to make regular exercise a part of their regime as it helps to control your weight by using excess calories that otherwise would be stored as fat. It does not matter what type of physical activity you perform--weight training, sports, planned exercise, running, yoga or pilates, all are beneficial when consistently and regularly done! You can gain significant health benefits if you can accumulate 30 minutes or more of physical activity per day. Regular physical activity, combined with healthy eating habits, is the most efficient and healthful way to control your weight. So whether you are trying to lose weight or maintain it, you should understand the important role of physical activity and include it in your lifestyle.
Considering you have worked with so many clients so what is your future plan for EAT FIT REPEAT?
With EAT FIT REPEAT, my goal is to form a practical approach towards the science of nutrition and to make it available for everyone who wishes to follow a healthy lifestyle. This could even help in keeping medicines at bay if it is persistently followed because I really believe it is the right balance of nutrients that help you keep healthy inside and out. So overall, I wish to bring forth my knowledge for nutrition and positively touch lives in a way that their well-being and health is properly managed.
How can EAT FIT REPEAT help people?
Eat Fit Repeat aims at providing realistic nutrition to people who are looking for a better lifestyle for themselves- physically, mentally and emotionally. Eat Fit repeat got it's name from the ideology to EAT everything we have been grown up eating & not eliminating any food, FIT refers to us being active physically, mentally & emotionally & just REPEAT this & make it a lifestyle for improving the quality of our lives.
