Tap your feet to Latin beats at a class that shows you how it’s done the world over
Did you know that Salsa is the most social dance form in the world, for it connects over 10 million people with common dance ethics, techniques and styles? "[And yet,] the way it's usually taught in India tends to be choreography-centric, where the focus is on specific lifts and moves instead of teaching the overall dance form. So, people barely get to enjoy Salsa the way it's meant to be - at Salsa nights and fests, where you may not have danced to the music being played, but you share a common language with others," says Sahiba Sawhney, who has been teaching the dance form for 11 years. As part of her venture, Dance Design, she is conducting a Salsa workshop, where she says, all you need to have is the willingness to dance and have fun.
The Salsa workshop is open to participation by all age groups
Open to novices as well as those who have been learning Salsa for a while, three instructors will teach Beginners, Improvers and Intermediate (the three categories), simultaneously for the first hour. The remaining 30 minutes is where the boundaries will melt away and all three groups will groove to music together.

"The best part about Salsa is it is conducive to all body types as long as you have the energy and stamina," shares Sawhney, who has learnt Salsa in Europe, South East Asia and Australia. "There is a Salsa fest happening every weekend in some part of the world. With this workshop, we want to equip people with the skills and the spirit to be able to enjoy this global dance fiesta."
