Here’s what you can do this weekend in Mumbai

The city is buzzing with events after quite a while and if you have been indoors for a very long time and looking to go out, this is probably the best time. Here are some interesting events to attend with your friends and family this weekend

The festive season is here and if you haven't found a reason to step out for a long time due to the Covid-19 pandemic, now is probably the best time to consider it. As the city makes its way towards going back to normal, restaurants have opened up and are hosting diners like never before. It is not only the food but also the various venues in the city that are now hosting different kinds of gigs and comedy events.

If you aren't really comfortable attending a music or comedy gig just yet, there are also different kinds of art workshops and activities to register for and that is why there is something for almost everybody in the city.

Here are some of interesting events in the city that you could attend this weekend



Canvas painting workshop
Are your friends busy to party this weekend? We have got you covered. Reignite your love for art or take a chance at exploring your creativity with this three-hour canvas painting workshop at Doolally Taproom in Khar. Hosted by Paintology, attendees will learn how to paint ‘Heaven on Earth' with city-based artist Virali Shah on a 12-inch by 16-inch canvas. All those who wish to attend do not have to have prior painting experience. All the material required for the workshop will be provided upon arrival.

Comedy gig
If you have had a busy week at work and are looking to unwind, head to That Comedy Club in Bandra. City-based comedians Angad Singh Ranyal (in picture) and Sapan Verma will attempt to tickle your funny bone with their latest set of jokes for the audience. Visitors will have to strictly follow Covid-19 protocols by wearing a mask. They should have taken at least one dose of the vaccination and are required to carry the vaccination certificate for entry.

Price: Rs 499 per person



Orchestra

For those with finer tastes or an interest in western classical music, attend this orchestra by conductor and violinist Marat Bisengaliev, who will perform at the Tata Theatre (in picture). The SOI Chamber Orchestra and Bisengaliev will perform works by Elgar, Vivaldi, Britten among others. Bisengaliev, who is known for his interpretations of Elgar's works will be the soloist for his works including Salut d'amour. All visitors will have to strictly follow Covid-19 protocol and should be fully vaccinated or have the ‘safe status' on the Aarogya Setu application.

Devotional poetry

Spend an evening listening to abhangs, which are a form of devotional poetry at this concert called ‘Bolava Vitthal'. Several vocalists such as Anand Bhate (in picture), Devaki Pandit, Sangeeta Katti and Jayateerth Mevundi will perform the folk art popular in Western India on the occasion of ‘Kartiki Ekadashi'. The event is open to all above 8 years and following Covid-19 protocol is mandatory.

Science of things
If you're wondering how your child can spend Children's Day, register them for a Computer Science Exploration Weekend to learn how to code. Hosted by social impact platform iCode, children aged between the age group of 5 to 18 years will be taught how to produce videos for YouTube, create a game and even navigating a drone. All those who attend the two-day workshop are expected to follow Covid-19 protocols.
