What would be the reaction of a television producer in Mumbai if a bunch of youngsters approached him with a script about four writers doing writerly things? Your guess is as good as ours. That is what made the creators of Here's Another Story skip the TV route. Instead, they created a show for the Internet to make use of a comparatively freer and more accepting space.
On their campaign page, they sassily mention, "TV is interesting but we are just not talented enough to introduce a Sanskari Bahu in the show and make 5,000 episodes."
"Our show is about four writers and their lives in a city - what not so ordinary things they do in life, how similar and apart they are, and how they cross one another's path by the end of Season 1," says Kartik Gorana, co-creator of the series.
But who wants to know about the lives of writers? "It is a misconception that all writers have similar personalities. Each character in this series is different. There is a writer who likes to offend through his work, a writer who struggles to balance writing with her other passion for music and another who writes feel good things," he explains.
The project was originally conceived by Ankit Sharma who shared the idea with Ankit Mahawar and Gorana, and slowly they had a team of 30 people on board who are all working for free.
Even before the money from the campaign has reached them, they started the project by pooling in money and intend to finish shooting by mid January. "It is our dream project, and we will find some way to make it. But with help from supporters we can make it much better," he signs off.
