New York rage Party Thieves tells us why the city should get ready for a mosh pit at his gig

Twenty-four-year-old producer and DJ Jared McFarlin, best known as Party Thieves (he even wears a sinister mask), has a fan following cooler than the Beliebers - they are called the Theft Army. A New Yorker, McFarlin is a solo trap and EDM artiste who is best known for his EP Undrafted. With other originals such as Rise, Zero Gravity, Savages, and his 2015 hit Chief, he's on top of his game right now. He's in Mumbai next week and he tells us why you should be ready to get your groove on at his gig.

How has New York inspired your music?
New York is full of culture, from the food to music and fashion. The energy is unlike anywhere I have ever been. New York allows you to be yourself, which is how I express myself in the music I create.

Do you think Trap is finally having its moment in the world of music?
I think trap is now getting more recognised. It has so many similarities to rap/hip hop that more people are now accepting and appreciating it.

What can the audiences expect at your gig in Mumbai?
My sets are high energy at all times. Expect to come and be jumping and sweating. Maybe even get caught in a mosh pit if you're lucky.

Who were your influences growing up?
Michael Jackson, Kanye West, Tupac, Biggie, Eminem, and so many more - I can go on forever. As of the 2000s, I have been a major Kendrick and Chance fan. I have always loved rap and hip hop which is why I think I dove into trap music.

What do you know of India and Indian audiences?
To be very honest, I do not know that much but I am excited to learn more about the culture and embrace it with open arms while I am there.
