With concrete structures becoming the defining aspect of modernity, it's only a matter of time before local street art reclaims it with its own inspirations. From a kirana store to a garage - the month-long St+art festival in Mumbai has made many heads turn on the city's roads. With the festival set to culminate soon, it's time to check out the results at the Magma exhibition, which is being held across two venues - St Jude Bakery in Bandra (Vol I) and Kala Ghoda (Vol II).
Arjun Bahl, founder of the festival, shares, "There are two types of art that one will be able to see. The artworks at
St Jude's are edgier and more experimental while the Kala Ghoda ones are more structured and heavy on canvases; like a traditional show."

This is the first St + art exhibition in Mumbai and Bahl feels that the festival has been a success as individuals from more then 10-11 nationalities have participated and in his words, "contributed with their art to India".
The Delhi-based management graduate's favourites are the works by Ano and Daku. "I like Ano's style as it shows characters in low resolution and creates a three dimensional effect. On the other hand, Daku makes you think a lot actually. He has showcased his contemporary work which could easily fit into a gallery," says Bahl.
Looking ahead at St+art Delhi, which will kickstart on January 20, the 31-year-old founder is sure that the success of the festival will carry on: "There have been some very good murals here and we have had large buildings to work on. Plus, with the locals taking pride in the works, I am sure this will further fuel the street art movement in the country."
