Get adorable knitted or crochet replicas of people, sushi, and even your favourite book characters, made by a sister duo from Arunachal Pradesh

You don't need to be a narcissist to love a little yarn replica doll of yourself. But if that feels weird, how about getting yourself other trinkets, like a sushi keychain, or a charm in the shape of a cute dragon?

The replica dolls are based on a photo of a person

Feeding your curio obsession are two sisters from Arunachal Pradesh, Neeta (34) and Namrata Khaling (29), who dabble in amigurumi, a Japanese art form that involves knitting or crocheting small stuffed creatures out of yarn. The word is created by joining the Japanese words 'ami' (crocheted/ knitted) and 'nuigurumi' (stuffed doll).

"We started this as a hobby, but, thanks to word-of-mouth publicity, we began receiving a large number of orders," says Neeta.

While they take all sorts of custom orders, their specialty lies in making replica dolls based on photographs of your loved ones. Neeta explains, "All you have to do is send us a picture. While we can't really emphasise facial features, we pay attention to every little detail on the outfit, right down to the shoes."

She reveals that while Harry Potter replica dolls remain bestsellers, they also receive requests for replicas of Salman Khan and SRK in his DDLJ avatar. If you're planning to order something for yourself, check out their Instagram page, The White Pinwheel, and bear in mind that due to meticulous detailing, orders take at least 15 days to arrive.
