Who: Taxiwala Mumbaikar is a series of photographs by Mumbai-based Uday Tadphale who originally belongs to Mahad city in Raigad district. A graduate in Applied Arts from Abhinav Kala Mahavidayala, Pune, Tadphale brings an aesthetical ability especially in terms of colour composition when it comes to his photographs. Currently, an art director, photography is a passion of Tadphale and his commendable frames have been showcased in various publications including Camera Pixo, Cameraraw, National Geographic, Daily Dozen, Editor's choice, Shot Magazine, Photo One, a few city publications as well as a photo exhibition in Finland.

Tadphale's image captures the grind taxi drivers go through.

What: Tadphale was introduced to photography through a camera phone. Enamoured by the city's rich and vibrant visuals, he worked towards buying his own DSLR. Tadphale has dedicated a Facebook page called Bambaiyya as he started shooting the city since the last two years. Speaking of Taxiwala Mumbaikar, he shares, "Kali peelis are iconic for the city. They are all around us." He vouches for shooting in the night, a time he prefers but, "Shooting in the night is challenging, which makes me crazy as getting results are difficult." The series has been shot mainly in Byculla, Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, Fashion Street and Girgaon.

How: Tadphale is fond of portraits, and finds beauty in people's expressions. As a photographer, he completely resists Photoshop and doesn't approve of even cropping of images.
