Then join Broke Bibliophiles, who meet quarterly to have freewheeling discussions on all things literary

A previous meet of Broke Bibliophiles

The broke Bibliophiles' Bombay Chapter started this year in April when an anonymous Facebook user with the moniker, Broke Bibliophile, started the club. "We initially met through the platform Book Deals For Broke Bibliophiles in India and connected over books," says Nirav Mehta, a core member of the group.

This week, the meet is at Shivaji Park

The group meets quarterly on Sundays and discusses books, what they are reading and the literary scene of Mumbai. Though they do want to meet more often, it is not possible because the members are busy and some work on Saturdays too. "We do not want to restrict ourselves to a theme because it restricts what all we can talk about. Our discussions are usually freewheeling, and the range of authors, from Chetan Bhagat to Murakami. We also discuss the book culture in the city like its festivals, libraries and bookstores," he says.

The group of 11 core memebers that has decided to meet at Shivaji Park this weekend, meet anywhere from Andheri to Colaba. "We would certainly like to explore further but we need make arrangements and reservations, which is not always possible," he says. In the previous meeting the group discussed the graphic novel, Persepolis by Iranian author Marjane Satrapi.
