Speaking about how 'Indian Matchmaking' came to life Sima said, "In 2010 Smriti Mundhra, a director from Los Angeles planned to make a docu series and she captured me on camera for four-five years. She had 200 hours of footage. She then made 'A Suitable Girl' the story of my daughter and me. Netflix found it to be an interesting concept for a reality show."
Recalling the time she had to make adjustments and move from Gulbarga to Mumbai after marriage, Sima said, "I was just 19 and my husband was 21 years old. I came from a big bungalow in Gulbarga to a 3-4 bedroom small house in Mumbai. I had to wear saree and cover my head because that time Marwaris were orthodox back then."
Opening up about the ideal celebrity couple Sima said, "As a child I was crazy about Hema Malini and I still am! We were not allowed to watch movies so I would collect her pictures from people's houses. Hema and Dharmendra are a good couple and so are Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma."
Speaking about how former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi inspired her to become famous Sima said, "Once when I was in class four, my family and I stood for two hours in the sun just to watch India Gandhi pass by in an open jeep and wave at us. I was happy seeing the love and respect she recieved and thought one day the world should love and respect me too."
When asked about the reactions she has been receiving for the series she said, "The world has loved my Indian values. They loved the way I talk, my sincerity and honesty."
