Saif Ali Khan is among the first few A-list actors who forayed into the digital world with Netflix's India Original show, Sacred Games. The web show became a rage on social media and several memes dominated the internet. The show has Nawazuddin Siddiqui play the character of Ganesh Gaitonde, who wants to run Mumbai city. Saif as the cop Sardar Sartaj Singh earned accolades for his character in the show.
In a recent interview with thequint.com, Saif Ali Khan revealed that after Sacred Games released, he received many calls from industry insiders applauding the show. The actor said that Aamir Khan was curious to know about Trivedi and texted him asking about this. "Well, yes! You know Aamir Khan sent me a text and he is someone whose opinion I respect and whose mind I admire when it comes to movies, and he said I want to talk to you so you know I called him back and he said, listen who's this Trivedi guy, is he dead, what happened and he had all these questions which I couldn't answer," stated Saif Ali Khan.

The Cocktail actor also said that Varun Dhawan also called him up to speak about this show. He was all praise for the show. Speaking about what Dhawan told him, Saif told the portal, "I remember Varun Dhawan was all praises for the show and rang up. A lot of people rang up, so that was nice. But even more important was the fact that we were representing our country on a global level and the kind of reviewers that write about it don't normally review the films we do. They were testing and watching us whether we can hold on our own on that platform and I think we did and that is a huge achievement for the technical team and everyone behind the camera as well as all the actors, who've done such a phenomenal job."
When the series came to an end, there was a trend on social media stating that they wanted a second season of Sacred Games. Recently, the Sacred Games 2 trailer was unveiled and takes the characters of Nawaz and Saif ahead. The season will be shedding light on Pankaj Tripathi's character, Guruji. There are talks of Pankaj Tripathi's character being inspired by the controversial godman Rajneesh Osho. Talking about it, a source earlier told mid-day, "Pankaj Tripathi's styling is almost similar to Rajneesh Osho, whose so-called religious movement was at its peak in the '80s. In terms of the writing too, Guruji's character seems to be woven like the cult figure."
Sacred Games 2 will start streaming from August 15, 2019.
