Palki Malhotra and Rahul Dev
Rahul Dev's portrayal of the suave and charismatic Dr Rana, in ALT Balaji's medical thriller Love, Scandal and Doctors, has won him accolades and reviews filled with only praises for being the maestro performer that he is. While the actor's versatility has made him a dynamic personality in the industry, he credits getting into the character of Dr Rana to showrunner, writer and creative director of LSD Palki Malhotra. Dev truly considers her to be the front runner without whom the show would have never happened!
"In one line, Love, Scandal and Doctors wouldn't have happened without Palki (ma'am) Malhotra. She was the front runner, who designed, created and conceived the show. The narrative had different layers, delving into changing relationships, competitiveness, laced with intrigue, and within my scope, Palki gave me the freedom to interpret the brief part and was always receptive to improvisation. Though needless to say that 'Love, Scandal and Doctors' is an ensemble team effort, the credit of unearthing young talent is hers and the people at ALT Balaji," shares Rahul.
Palki has been an integral part of the Television industry for over 24 years while creating shows like Dill Mill Gayye, Dill Dostii Dance, Girls on Top, Yeh Hai Aashiqui, Yeh Teri Galliyan and more which have induced magic on screen, created quite a buzz with her OTT debut LSD. She was also super happy to convince Rahul Dev to take on the show and bring out a character like Dr Rana from him, which is being loved by the viewers.
"When we were casting for Dr Rana, it was very tough for our entire team to collectively zero in on the artist we wanted for the role, but when Rahul Dev's name came up, it was an instant yes for all of us! The first briefing call I had with him was an extensively long one where he grilled me to the tee with questions about the character and eventually agreed to be part of the project when I emphasized the fact that this was a 'Passion Project' for our entire team. He was a no-fuss actor who brought an old school vibe on set, which was in fact an eye-opener for all the younger actors who took in some good values and learning from him. He truly is a director's actor and a delight to work with, because of the kind of improvisation and his own set of additions he would add to the role which only and only enhanced it," shares Palki.
