Popular actor and TV host Shekhar Suman, who recently made headlines for his role in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's web series âHeeramandi: The Diamon Bazaar' joined the Bhartiya Janata party on Tuesday. Shekhar was inducted into the party in the presence of Vinod Tawde at the headquarters in Delhi.
The actor thanked BJP leadership including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Amit Shah and Vinod Tawde, Anil Baluni, JP Nadda, and Anurag Thakur for inducting him into the party. "Till yesterday I did not know that I would be sitting here today because many things in life happen knowingly or unknowingly. I have come here with a very positive thinking and I would like to thank God that he ordered me to come here," Shekhar Suman said while addressing a Press conference in Delhi.

Have you heard? Things get weird
"A person depends a lot upon his words and after a while words hold no importance because there is a difference between saying and doing things. I can sit here and give a speech as long as I want but it would hold no importance if I do no work," Suman said.
Although, this isn't the first venture into politics for the TV and film actor. Back in 2009, Suman ran for the Lok Sabha seat from Patna Sahib under the Congress banner, but faced defeat against Bollywood actor and BJP candidate Shatrughan Sinha, securing third place in the election.
Interestingly, Shekhar has joined the same party as his son Adhyayan Suman's ex-girlfriend and actress Kangana Ranaut. The BJP has fielded Kangana from Himachal Pradesh's Mandi in the Lok Sabha elections. Mandi, known as a stronghold of the Congress party, presents a formidable challenge for Ranaut as she steps into the political arena.
Earlier, Adhyayan had accused his ex-girlfriend Kangana Ranaut of torturing and abusing him, when they were together. They had a bitter breakup after being in a relationship for a few months in 2008-2009. Their paths initially crossed on the sets of 'Raaz: The Mystery Continues' directed by Mohit Suri. However, it was almost eight years later, in 2017, that Adhyayan publicly addressed their breakup, during which he accused Kangana of physical and mental abuse.
Extended his best wishes to Kangana for her venture into politics, the actor said that he is "sure" that she will do "extremely well". Adhyayan told IANS: "As far as Kangana Ranaut and her life are concerned and her political career is concerned, I think she has done really well in her career as an actor, and I wish her all the very best for her political career as well."
