The Forgtten Army starred Sunny Kaushal and Sharvari Wagh, and is based on true events about the Indian National Army (INA) led by Subhash Chandra Bose. Helmed by Kabir Khan, the web series that streamed on Amazon Prime Video brought to the fore the journey and sacrifice of the INA from its soldiers' point of view.
Sunny Kaushal, in a recent exclusive interview with mid-day's Mohar Basu, spoke about his prep for the show and the response he got from critics and the audience. When asked if he spoke to someone who was from the INA as part of the prep, Kaushal said, "I would have loved to, but the thing was I only had a week to start shooting. I had just finished shooting for Gold, and I had to cut all my beard and hair and everything in that week. That week also included our physical training and boot camp. I had to look like a soldier to behave like a soldier."

Speaking about his biggest learning from the show, Sunny Kaushal shared, "My biggest learning was that there's so much in the past we don't know about, that has been given to us and we take for granted. Not that we should be stuck in the past, but yes, we should be grateful to all the people who fought really hard and take out time to know about them."
The Forgotten Army, while appreciated for its storyline and performances, got all kinds of mixed reviews and responses. Talking about it, Sunny said, "To each their own (smiles). At the end of the day, it's an entertainment medium, we're trying to tell a story through audio-visual. It depends on the person receiving it and what opinion they form of it. You've to respect everything, whether people like it or they don't. Everybody is entitled to their own opinion."
On the work front, Sunny Kaushal is currently busy with the shoots of his upcoming films Hurdang alongside Nushrratt Bharuccha, and Shiddat alongside Radhika Madan.
