Shah Rukh Khan
Whenever one speaks or mentions about the successful transition from Television to Bollywood, there is only one name which stands tall! You guessed it absolutely right… it is none other than King Khan- Shah Rukh Khan! By now everyone knows that, today’s ‘Baadshah’ of silver screen had started off his journey in showbiz with the serial ‘Fauji’, which was in the year 1989. Not many are aware that, initially, Shah Rukh Khan was supposed to be playing the second lead. But the love of the audiences for his character made the makers of the show tweak a bit and Shah Rukh Khan became the main lead of the show. The rest, as they say, is ‘HIS-story’!
Yami Gautam
The stunning Yami Gautam has not just been the face of a leading brand of fairness cream, she has also been the leading lady of many successful films in Bollywood. Did you know that, Yami had started off her career with television in serials like ‘Chand Ke Paar Chalo’, ‘Yeh Pyar Na Hoga Kam’, ‘Raajkumar Aaryyan’ and also the most memorable ‘CID’. She made her Bollywood debut with ‘Vicky Donor’ in the year 2012 and has never looked back after that.
Aditya Roy Kapur
Besides being one of the good-looking and talented actors in Bollywood, he is also one of the successful actors in showbiz who have made their debut with television. Before entering Bollywood, Aditya Roy Kapur had hosted TV shows like ‘Pakao’ and ‘India’s hottest’. After that, he took the plunge in Bollywood with his debut film ‘London Dreams’.
Vidya Balan
Who had EVER thought even in the wildest of dreams that the bespectacled and a bit nerdish, who was the idiot box version of ‘Scholar Naina’, would one day become the queen of the silver screen. Well, we are indeed talking about Vidya Balan. She had started off her career in showbiz with the super successful show ‘Hum Paanch’, wherein she played the role of Radhika Mathur. As times passed, Vidya landed up making her Bollywood debut with ‘Parineeta’. Ever since then, there has been no looking back!
Sushant Singh Rajput
Who can EVER forget the ever-smiling face of the late actor Sushant Singh Rajput, who had passed away a couple of years back. Just like no one can forget his smiling face, same way, no one can ever forget his screen presence (read ‘aura’) in the TV serials like ‘Pavitra Rishta’, ‘Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil’ and others. Post his stint with television, Sushant Singh Rajput made a smooth transition to silver screen with the film ‘Kai Po Che’.
R. Madhavan
He has been one of the most non-controversial actors in Bollywood. Much before he made his debut in Bollywood, he had done serials like ‘Banegi Apni Baat’, ‘Ghar Jamai’, ‘Sea Hawks’ etc… he had also hosted ‘Tol Mol Ke Bol’, one of the earliest reality shows on television. After having had a successful stint on television, R. Madhavan made his debut in southern film industry, which was followed by Bollywood. Today, he is considered as one of the successful stars in Bollywood who had made their transition from television.
Ayushmann Khurrana
Thanks to the kind of varied roles that he has been playing of late, Ayushmann Khurrana has always been appreciated for his guts to play off beat roles. The conviction with which he plays the roles gets translated into success on the silver screen. But, did you know that Ayushmann Khurrana started off his career with Television in serials like ‘Kayamath’ and ‘Ek Thi Rajkumari’. True to his ‘tagline’ of being ‘Master of all trades’, the versatile Ayushmann Khurrana has also been a successful RJ as well as TV show host. He had yet another ‘tryst’ with television in the form of being a contestant in MTV Roadies (Season 2).
