Shaheer Sheikh was born into a Muslim family. Seen in the picture is the actor with his father Shahnawaz Sheikh and mother Dilshad Sheikh. He has two sisters. Shaheer is called Sameer by his family.

Shaheer Sheikh pursued LLB from New Law College, and Bharati Vidyapeeth University, Pune. However, he did not practice law and started his career as a photographer.

Later, Shaheer Sheikh took up modelling and eventually made his acting debut with 2009's TV show Kya Mast Hai Life. Shaheer played the role of a teenage named Vir Mehra, who is a music enthusiast and plays the guitar.

After Kya Mast Hai Life, Shaheer Sheikh appeared in Jhansi Ki Rani in 2010, where he played Nana Sahib, brother of Rani of Jhansi.

Shaheer Sheikh is forgetful and has a "terrible memory," said actor Rohit Bhardwaj, who is his close buddy. He also revealed that Shaheer is a spendthrift.

After Jhansi Ki Rani, Shaheer Sheikh went on to star in TV shows such as Navya..Naye Dhadkan Naye Sawaal (2011) and Best Of Luck Nikki (2011). However, it was in 2013 when Shaheer became hugely popular.

In 2013, Shaheer Sheikh played Arjun in Mahabharat. The show was also released in Indonesia with the title Panah Asmara Arjuna and that garnered more popularity to the actor.

After the show got over in 2014, Shaheer Sheikh, however, went out of action. After a hiatus of two years, Shaheer Sheikh made a comeback with Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi.

Shaheer Sheikh and Erica Fernandes were seen as the lead pair, while Supriya Pilgaonkar played Dev's (Shaheer) mother in Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi. The show marked Erica's TV debut.

Shaheer Sheikh and Erica Fernandes' on-screen chemistry was loved by the audience. There were rumours about the duo being an item. But, later, the gossip mills suggested the couple called it quits. It was said that Shaheer Sheikh who was earlier in a relationship with Indonesian actor-singer Ayu Ting Ting, had rekindled his romance with her.

However, Erica Fernandes took to social media to clear the air. She wrote, "I would finally want to break my silence here on all that I hear and see... Shaheer and my relationship is that of friendship and I will not tolerate anyone maligning it (sic)."

Shaheer Sheikh is quite a very popular star in the Indonesian film and television industry. He has done an Indonesian film, Turis Romantis, in 2015. His other Indonesian projects were - Maipa Deapati & Datu Museng, Cinta di Langit Taj Mahal, Roro Jonggrang, Aladin & Alakadam, to name a few.

Asked what's taking him so long to act in a Hindi movie, Shaheer told IANS in a telephonic interview, "I am waiting for the right opportunity and character. I am also a little choosy when it comes to working. I need something that excites me, something that I feel I can pull it off."

Shaheer Sheikh is currently seen in Yeh Rishtey Hain Pyaar Ke, a spin-off of Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. He romances opposite Rhea Sharma.
