The decision to play a college student in the recently released daily soap, Sirf Tum, didn't come easy for Vivian Dsena, who has been away from showbiz for two years after his role in Shakti - Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki ended in 2019. "To physically transform myself to look like a college boy [at the age of 33] was a challenge," said the actor, who utilised his childhood training to get into the skin of the character.

Dabbling in football since the age of 10, Dsena who by self-admission has never been to college, suggested that his character, Ranveer Oberoi be a college football player. "My father always said, ‘Athletes are not made, they are born'. I trust my game. Sports has always helped me in life, so when [I got this role], I knew it would be challenging [to achieve] that transformation, but I wanted to take it up. After all, [a person's] true character is revealed only when [under] pressure," said Dsena, adding that he also hit the gym and followed a strict diet to look the part. "I needed to increase my physical strength and athletic capacity to ensure that I don't look like a miscast. Diet is a discipline. It can be difficult, but it is needed." Although he is not a gym body, for the show, Dsena didn't shy away from the dumbbells.

"I've always tried to keep myself fit by playing football. But for the show, I had to hit the gym and work hard to achieve the right physique. I have lost body fat percentage and about 10 kgs in around 45 days."

While actors are busy exploring the digital space, the Madhubala actor insists that the television medium will never die. "[Although] I don't [classify projects] as per web or TV, I have been in this industry for 14 years. Television has been around for a long time, compared to OTT which is barely five years old [in India]. Maybe the web is doing great, but old is gold. Television still has a large reach, [especially since] not everyone has switched to watching content on their mobile phones," said the actor.
